Like our page collecting resources for those impacted by the gap in SNAP benefits, we have heard from the community that it would be helpful to share resources for those who would like to donate or help families in need. If you are looking for help, here are a few ways!
St. Peter’s Food Cupboard
From the St. Peter’s website:
The St. Peter’s Food Cupboard distributes groceries every Saturday morning from the St. Peter’s Parish House at 313 Pine Street. All are welcome if they need food. We believe that no one should go hungry, and we make food available at no cost. The Food Cupboard is possible through the hard work and dedication of our volunteers.
To help at St. Peter’s, sign up to volunteer, donate funds (be sure to select “Food Cupboard” when donating), or learn more.
Old Pine Community Center
Settlement Music School
From a November 4 email to families:
Right now, many of our Settlement families are struggling to put food on the table. This week, we are launching an emergency food drive to provide immediate support to our families in need.
If you are in a position to donate non-perishable food items (with the exception of a few fruits listed below), please drop them off at our Mary Louise Curtis Branch in the faculty lounge, located next to the main stairwell. Drop off hours are Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., or Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
If you are in need of food, we will begin sharing pre-packed bags of food to take home in the upper lobby vestibule of the Mary Louise Curtis Branch starting Wednesday, November 5th. These bags will be available for pickup through November.
If you prefer to provide a monetary donation, please follow this link to make your donation and write “emergency food drive” in the comments section at the bottom of the form. Every dollar helps us purchase fresh items and essentials directly.
Every contribution – big or small – makes a difference. Together, we can ensure that every family in our community has the support they need during this difficult time.
